This page provides information and resources for people who identify as LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning) and links to both local and national support organisations.
Identity: The group offers confidential support and advice to all young people aged 12 – 18yrs regarding sexual and gender identity, home and school concerns, and all other worries they may have. They are based in a secure location in Halifax town centre that offers a safe environment for young people to meet every Wednesday between 17:00 and 19:30.
Calderdale Healthy Identities Project: Healthy Identities is a universal primary preventative project working with LGBTQ young people aged up to 25 to access advice, information and support local to their community. We offer sexual and gender identity training to health professionals across Calderdale, 1:1 interventions with children and young adults as well as facilitate an older LGBTQ youth group for 18-25 year olds.
Stonewall: Stonewall’s mission is to empower all young people, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, to campaign for equality and fair treatment for LGBTQ people, and against discrimination.
MindOut: MindOut is a mental health service run by and for lesbians, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer people. They work to improve the mental health and wellbeing of LGBTQ communities and to make mental health a community concern.
LGBT Foundation: is a national charity delivering advice, support and information services to lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) communities.
LGBTQ+ Engagement Toolkit: The aim of this toolkit is to provide practical, informative and useful advice and support on how to improve engagement with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and/or Transgender (LGBT+) communities.
