It can be a big help to share your feelings with someone who cares, it may help to feel you are not carrying things on your own. But you may find it difficult to know who to talk to, what to say, how to describe how you feel. You could talk to a:
A trusted adult
Your GP
A teacher
A counsellor
Planning what to say
Think about what you want to say and you may want to separate it into:
I feel ……
I wish……
I think……
I need……
I hope……
If you don’t want to write anything down, you could record your feelings on a voice recorder app and play it back.
Be prepared for different reactions
A doctor or other expert may ask you questions in order to understand your issues. This will help them decide what kind of information or advice you need.
Someone who’s close to you may not quite know how to react at first, so give them a moment; they might not be expecting what you’re telling them.
